Is it cheaper to own a mini home, than it is to rent an apartment?

According to a recent CBC rental market report for Halifax, the average price for a 2-bedroom apartment was $2,500 per month. As any renter knows, many units in the HRM are renting for much more than that. With this in mind, yes, it can be cheaper to own a mini home than it is to rent an apartment!
